Warner Home Video has announced the long anticipated arrival of V For Vendetta on Blu-ray Disc will come to fruition on May 20.
V For Vendetta was originally released by Warner on HD DVD way back on October 31, 2006. It was held from a Blu-ray release at that time due to Blu-ray’s incapability to support Picture-in-Picture, which HD DVD could. Now that Blu-ray profile 1.1 (and 2.0 for that matter) are in play, Picture-in-Picture is no longer a roadblock.
V For Vendetta on Blu-ray will be presented on a BD-50 disc in widescreen 2.4:1 1080p video and, at minimum, Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Dolby TrueHD lossless audio is expected to be supported, but has yet to be confirmed by the studio.
No supplemental materials have been suggested; however, we fully expect the entire suite from the HD DVD release to appear on Blu-ray. Those are listed below.
- IME: Director’s Notebook: Reimagining a Cult Classic for the 21st Century: with Director James McTeigue and cast members including Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving
- Designing the Near Future
- Remeber, Remember: Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot
- England Prevails: V For Vendetta and the new wave in comics
- Freedom! Forever!: Making V For Vendetta
- Saturday Night Live Digital Short
- Cat Power Montage
- Theatrical Trailer
V For Vendetta on Blu-ray will carry a reasonable SRP of $28.99. Click through the disc details below to view high-res cover art, and check back regularly for Amazon.com pre-order links.
