HBO is taking advantage of the one-month mark until the True Blood: Season 5 premiere to deliver a dozen character posters that drive home the point “everything is at stake.”
There are a couple mild spoilers that appear in these posters. If you haven’t seen Season 4 or want to head into Season 5 as virgin to spoilers as possible, best to turn back now.
Of the dozen True Blood: Season 5 character posters, only one of them is a new character. In Christopher Meloni’s poster we get to see the ancient vampire bear his fangs for the first time. You can see the first footage of Meloni in his True Blood role as Roman performing some kind of vampire ritual.
Now we delve into mild spoiler territory. As anyone who saw the Season 4 finale has likely already figured out, Denis O’Hare is returning to True Blood as the 2,800-year old former Vampire King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington. It’s unclear how involved his role will be this season, but it’s good to see the popular character return and hopefully shake things up with the Vampire Authority.
The final poster is of Tara who, as of the Season 4 finale, had part of her head blown off by a shotgun. We know Tara is returning in some capacity, we just don’t know how. Is she a ghost? A resurrected vampire. Something else we haven’t seen yet, like a zombie?
True Blood: Season 5 kicks off on Sunday, June 10 at 9/8c on HBO. We’ll have much more on the upcoming season so stay tuned.
