It was vampire happy hour on last night’s latest episode of True Blood, ‘In the Beginning,’ as what’s left of the Vampire Authority joined Russell Edgington, Bill and Eric on a drunken party to feast on humans in a romp down Bourbon Street. A drop of Lilith’s blood coursing through their veins was enough for each to throw caution to the wind and terrorize mankind for a few hours.
Eric and Bill wanted nothing to do with Russell and his sanguinista movement before tasting Lilith’s blood. At least Eric claims to have had “enough fun” and attempts to leave the Authority after their feeding frenzy. The promo for the next episode, ‘Somebody That I Used to Know,’ clearly suggests Eric has his own plans in mind.
While on the topic of Lilith, she finally made her first appearance as one might have suspected – fully nude – in a dreamlike state. She appears to be using some sort of power over Nora and the other Authority members as part of her own plan. She’s the new “big bad” for the season. Cue Godric to warn Eric of Lilith’s power and to save his sister before its too late.
Over in what seems like the other part of the world, dumb Sookie has learned that her faerie powers drain with each use and she will become human when they are used up. So she stands outside in the dark and flashes her powers repeatedly, willing to let go of the only thing that protects her from the vampires. That’s smart.Jason will come running and try to talk her out of it. He’ll probably partially succeed.
Also in the promo, wild vamp Tara continues to explore her wild ways with a new feeding victim. JD and Alcide will finally get it on for the right to be packmaster. And Sam continues his search for the shapeshifter killers, not knowing that Hoyt has become one of them.
It looks like the smoke monster plot may be on its last legs, much to the pleasure of pretty much anyone who still watches the show. I still think there’s more to Patrick’s presence even if the demon is properly disposed of.
