True Blood was expected to be bloody heading into episode 47 ‘Soul of Fire’ and the previews did not disappoint. Several characters met their untimely demise at the Moon Goddess Emporium showdown between Marne/Antonia and the vampire, while elsewhere a certain wolf learned his lesson the hard way.
As the “Death” trailer recently teased, Marne’s death in no way signified the character’s exit from the show. Her spirit has hopped into Lafayette, much in the same way Antonia hopped into her. Lafayette would call it “reverse puking.”
‘Soul of Fire’ taught us that Jesus is the only witch capable of separating a spirit from its host. It took a big toll on him to do it once, so will he be up to the challenge again so soon? He’s definitely up near the top of the “this could be their final episode” list.
Alan Ball and his True Blood team love to tease what’s coming in the next season as the previous comes to a close. We may have caught a glimpse of that when Andy stumbled into a Faerie in the woods and promptly got naked with her. He made a pledge to the Faerie that could turn out to be a very, very bad decision.
I’ve been wondering all season when the Faeries would make their return. They took up the first 10 or so minutes of the season 4 premiere, then Eric offed Sookie’s Faerie God Mother in gruesome fashion. Surely they seek revenge.
In the finale trailer, HBO teases the tagline “Your Past Will Haunt You,” showing a Red Riding Hood like figure moving through the woods. Is it Sookie? Or someone else?
The trailer also shows Eric and Bill about to roast under a hot fire. We’ve already seen them willing to die for Sookie once. Is this is a similar deal, or are they under a spell?
The True Blood season 4 finale ‘And When I Die’ will air Sunday, September 11 at 9pm EST/6pm PST on HBO.
