Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D Trailer and Michael Bay, James Cameron Chat

This weekend Paramount began running a slightly new 3D trailer for Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon. To coincide with the marketing ramp up, Michael Bay and James Cameron sat down for a chat to talk about why and how 3D was used in the film.

The trailer is identical to the previously released 2D version with the exception of three newly added scenes. The first shows Optimus Prime and Ratchet walking through the crashed Autobot Ark while their long lost warriors are stuck in stasis around them. The second scene shows Bumblebee and Sam flying through the air toward the camera while large canisters fly off a truck. The final new scene has Optimus Prime with jet pack flying toward and attacking the Decepticon “Dweller” robot right after it has attacked the office building.

Bumblebee and Sam flying through the air was shown in its entirety during a conversation Friday evening with Michael Bay and James Cameron where the two directors discussed the use of 3D in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Though a lot of new footage was shown to the audience during this conversation, the snippets released by Paramount only include scenes previously shown in trailers.
