Cinematographer Wally Pfister made his directorial debut earlier this year with Transcendence starring Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, and Clifton Collins, Jr. As the film is wrapping up its theatrical run, Warner Home Entertainment has announced that Transcendence is coming to Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD as a combo pack release on July 22.
Transcendence was produced for approximately $100 million yet could only produce $22.9 million in North American ticket sales. Overseas business pushed the worldwide total to $78.8 million but could not salvage the film from being considered a theatrical flop.
Warner Bros. will hope for better returns from Transcendence on home video, especially from fans of Johnny Depp. The film will be presented on Blu-ray in 2.4:1 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Bonus features include:
