Toy Story Blu-rays to Include Toy Story 3 Previews

The Pixar announcement we knew was coming soon has finally arrived. Toy Story and Toy Story 2 have been cleared to land on Blu-ray Disc on March 23.

The re-release of both Pixar classics in 3D this past fall combined with the arrival of Toy Story 3 opened the door for the Blu-ray appearance. Only with this announcement there is a small twist.

Like the Diamond Edition of Snow White a couple months ago, Toy Story and Toy Story 2 will arrive as Disney Blu-ray + DVD Combos packaged in two distinct ways: one with Blu-ray as the lead product and the other with DVD as the lead product. Then on May 11, 8 weeks later, both films will be released in DVD only packages.

Tech specs are currently unavailable but its a good bet to expect 1080p transfers and DTS-HD Master Audio in either 5.1 or 7.1 channels. D-BOX Motion Code will likely be available at street date or shortly thereafter as well.

The gem of the bonus features are an exclusive sneak peek of Toy Story 3, one on each disc. Early information suggests the rest of each film’s extras will round out as follows:

Toy Story

  • The Story of Toy Story 3
  • Buzz Lightyear Mission Logs: Blast Off
  • Paths to Pixar: Artists
  • Studio Stories
  • Buzz Takes Manhattan
  • Black Friday: The Toy Story You Never Saw

Toy Story 2

  • The Characters of Toy Story 3
  • Buzz Lightyear Mission Logs: International Space Station
  • Paths to Pixar: Technical Artists
  • Studio Stories
  • Pixar’s Zoetrop
  • Celebrating Our Friend Joe Ranft

Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on Blu-ray will carry an SRP of $39.99. Enjoy a sneak peek of the cover art below and check back regularly for the addition of pre-order links to our Amazon Blu-ray pre-orders page.
