Ubisoft is proving its Motion Pictures division means business by attracting hot Hollywood commodity Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) to play Sam Fisher in the upcoming feature film adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell.
In the Splinter Cell games, Fisher is a special ops agent with a knack for high-tech gadgets and stealth infiltration. Along with his fellow agents in the secretive “Echelon” black-ops sub-division, Fisher neutralizes terrorist threats around the globe.
Ubisoft Motion Pictures has also announced the signing of Eric Warren Singer to write the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell screenplay. Singer has written The International as well as the upcoming film American Bullshit that will star Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale and Jeremy Renner under the direction of David O. Russell.
Hardy is the second A-list actor to attach himself to an Ubisoft film in recent weeks. Prometheus and X-Men: First Class actor Michael Fassbender is attached to star in the upcoming film adaptation of Assassin’s Creed that will be produced and distributed by New Regency.
Next up for Tom Hardy is Mad Max: Fury Road, well into production and due to arrive in theaters next year.
