While director Kenneth Branagh is busy shooting Marvel’s Thor on soundstages in Los Angeles, the production is simultaneously gearing up to hit the road.
Taking a page from the Michael Bay book of hot and arid filmmaking, Thor’s production will relocate to Santa Fe, New Mexico in March and April to shoot scenes presumably in the desert. Whether these scenes are a part of Asgard or Earth remains to be seen.
More than 200 cast and crew members are to be hired for the shoot with emphasis on the production requiring “lots of paid extras!” If you live in or around Santa Fe, are over 18 and want a shot at appearing in Thor, head on over to the New Mexico Film Office. The casting call begins next week.
Thor stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins, and is due in theaters next summer just ahead of Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger.
