McFarlane Toys has two tricks up their sleeves for the third series of action figures based off AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead based on new pre-order listings that popped up at BigBadToyStore.
First, rather than the full year between the release of Series 1 and Series 2, the latter of which is expected to make its debut in stores at the end of this month, McFarlane Toys will cut the wait in half and deliver Series 3 in spring 2013. Demand for these figures as the show’s audience continues to grow has been swelling and five figures per year simply weren’t enough.
The second surprise is McFarlane Toys debuting the first female figure into the TV series line, Michonne. She was an easy choice given her action-oriented nature and the fact that she appeared in the lone series devoted to The Walking Dead comic book. Look for Michonne to include a removable poncho, katana sword and katana sheath.
There will be only one other human in Series 3 and that will be Merle as he is seen in Season 3 of the show. Merle will come packing with a prosthetic arm w/ removable bayonet, assault rifle, pistol and knife.
The remaining three slots are filled with zombies and two of those will be Michonne’s pets. They each come with movable backpacks, neck chain leash, arms and bottom jaw. Zombie Pet 1 comes with a bonus removable shotgun in his backpack.
The final character in Series 3 is the only one from Season 2 of the show, the Autopsy Zombie. He comes with a knife and removable shirt to reveal either a partially digested hand and/or woodchuck carcass. Yummy!
