Update: More The Walking Dead: Season 3 finale high resolution images have been added to the original pair from yesterday. Some of these might be considered mild spoilers so proceed at your own risk.
The Season 3 finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead is almost upon us. It seems like a lot has to go down in the final hour based on all the story threads left dangling. What will become of Andrea? What side will Tyreese and Sasha choose? How will Rick and his group defend against The Governor’s assault?
AMC has released a pair of official high resolution stills from the Season 3 finale ‘Welcome to the Tombs.’ Neither contain any real spoilers, but I will try to speculate what each might mean.
The first image shows Carl (Chandler Riggs) staring at his father’s police badge in reflection of either the good times, the bad times, or both. We haven’t seen much of Carl in the past several episodes so it’s time he made a triumphant return. Carl can be a killing machine when he needs to, and what better time to man up than against The Governor’s goons.
Speaking of dad, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) with his trusty machine gun can be seen in the second image with at least one other person behind him. Who that person is really isn’t important. What’s intriguing about this image is that the time of day is night.
We know The Governor makes his appearance at the prison during the day based on the clip that debuted during The Talking Dead. A theory here is that Rick has set a trap by filling the prison’s inner corridors, or “tombs,” with walkers, let the walkers wear down The Governor’s troops, then ambushes them from the woods.
The Walking Dead: Season 3 episode 316 ‘Welcome to the Tombs’ premieres this Sunday at 9/8c on AMC. Click either of the images below for a high resolution look.
