The Walking Dead Season 2 Mid-Season Return Scores Record RatingsA winter hiatus was just what The Walking Dead needed to push its ratings from incredible to out of this world.

On Sunday night, 8.1 million total viewers shunned the Grammy’s to watch The Walking Dead mid-season return, episode 208 ‘Nebraska.’ An additional 2 million viewers stopped by to catch up with Rick and his pals at two subsequent time slots, totaling 10.1 million total viewers for the evening.


In the 18-49 demographic is where The Walking Dead: Season 2 mid-season premiere really shined. It pulled in 5.4 million total viewers in the demo during its first airing, a new basic cable record. The old record was held by unsurprisingly The Walking Dead: Season 2 premiere back in October which was 12 percent fewer than ‘Nebraska.’

Not satisfied with one record, ‘Nebraska’ tallied 4.4 million total viewers in the 25-54 demo to set yet another record. The total household rating for the episode was a 5.2, well ahead of the 4.8 million that the Season 2 premiere scored.

AMC has already renewed The Walking Dead for a total of 16 episodes in Season 3 so these ratings are icing on the cake. It would take a huge ratings decline for The Walking Dead to stumble into cancellation anytime soon.
