The Walking Dead FPS Game Coming From Activision in 2013

The Walking Dead FPS Game Coming From Activision in 2013AMC’s The Walking Dead already has one hit video game from Telltale that replicates the drama and fear of the show. Next year, a completely different The Walking Dead gaming experience will be delivered by Activision.

Activision has teamed up with developer Terminal Reality to create a first-person shooter The Walking Dead game that will serve as a direct prequel to the first season of the television series. The game will focus on brothers Daryl and Merle Dixon as they first come to grips with the zombie apocalypse and battle their way toward what they think is the safety of Atlanta. No word on whether Merle’s foul mouth and bigot ways will be included.

According to Activision, the game will play as part stealth and part shooter. Players can choose to try to sneak around zombies to reach their goal, or choose to go in guns and crossbow blazing.

There appears to be an RPG-lite component to the game as players will have to manage ammunition, food and other supplies carefully on their journey, per IGN. Players will also encounter others characters along the way and choose to let them come along or leave them behind.

Activision will release The Walking Dead game in 2013 on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC. Curiously a Wii U version is not mentioned in the announcement.
