The Walking Dead should take a bit of a breather tonight in ’18 Miles Out’ after the previous episode, ‘Triggerfinger,’ dialed up the action, gore and suspense. The preview snippets for ’18 Miles Out’ lay the groundwork for what we can expect, and it should be a different kind of crazy than what has been previously offered this season. ’18 Miles Out’ sees the reunion of the Group for the first time since the mid-season finale. Rick, Hershel and Glenn have successfully made it back to Hershel’s Farm, and almost everyone there is ecstatic to see them.
After Maggie runs past her dad and hugs Glenn, T-Dog notices another passenger in Hershel’s truck. It’s wounded Randall, blindfolded and kept alive at the behest of Rick and his ongoing mission to keep humanity intact. With Randall’s leg on the mend, the Group must now decide what to do with him.
The episode name ’18 Miles Out’ refers to how far Rick and Shane will drive Randall away from the farm to drop him off. It should be a quick mission; dump the kid and return to the farm. This is The Walking Dead and nothing ever goes exactly as planned.
