Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice will materialize on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on November 30, the same day its inspiration Fantasia debuts on Blu-ray.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice starring Nicolas Cage, Alfred Molina, Jay Baruchel, Nicole Ehinger, Peyton List, Teresa Palmer and Monica Bellucci struggled at the domestic box office with just under $62 million in ticket sales. International business helped hoist its worldwide totals to $176.8 million and surpass its estimated $150 million production budget. I found the film to be underrated and quite a bit of fun despite its reliance on formulaic storytelling. You can read my The Sorcerer’s Apprentice theatrical review here.
Disney will be offering The Sorcerer’s Apprentice on Blu-ray in two and three-disc combo pack with DVD configurations. The only difference between the two being the inclusion of a digital copy in the three-disc set and an SRP difference of $39.99 versus $44.99.
The film on Blu-ray will be presented in 2.4:1 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Bonus features shared between each Blu-ray sku are outlined below (with more yet to be revealed):
- Magic in the City
- The Science of Sorcery
- Making Magic Real
- Fantasia: Reinventing a Classic
- The Encantus
- The World’s Coolest Car
- 5 Deleted Scenes
- Outtakes
- And more…
