Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced the direct-to-video prequel The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior is coming to Blu-ray Disc on August 19, day-and-date with DVD.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will not be appearing in the sequel to reprise his role as the Scorpion King. That honor instead will go to Michael Copon, a young but seasoned television actor known for starring in The Power Rangers who just now is beginning to dabble in film.
The timing for The Scorpion King 2 comes just one month after Universal releases their first titles on Blu-ray Disc, all from the Mummy films: The Mummy, The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King.
The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior will be presented in widescreen 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.
Supplemental features have not been released for the Blu-ray version yet, though several are known for the DVD version. Assuming Universal gives each version equal treatment, the Blu-ray supplementals will appear as follows.
- Deleted Scenes
- Gag Reel
- The Making of The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior
