Warner Home Video has announced plans to release ‘The Polar Express’ October 30 on Blu-ray Disc.
The Tom Hanks-heavy CGI tale made its high definition debut last holiday season on HD DVD. The Blu-ray version will be presented in an identical widescreen 1080p video and Dolby Digital 5.1 lossy audio, proof Warner does not intend to go the extra mile and add lossless audio on the handful of expected Blu-ray releases already available on HD DVD. Other notable titles already available on HD DVD and awaiting Blu treatment are ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.’
