Amazon.com has begun taking pre-orders for the hugely anticipated The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Limited Extended Editions on Blu-ray and revealed the cover art as well (see below). More happy the Blu-ray community could not be.
New Line and Warner Bros. SRP on The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Limited Extended Editions on Blu-ray is set at $119.98 which works out to around $40 per movie. The actual pre-order price is $83.99 which is a more manageable $28 per film.
On Amazon’s pre-order page for the Trilogy is a new promotional video. What’s funny about the video is none of the footage it shows is from the extended cuts of the film. Maybe those cuts aren’t quite ready for prime time just yet.
The expected release date for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Limited Extended Editions on Blu-ray is the fourth quarter of this year. You can bet I’ll pass along the official announcement and release date once it’s available.
