Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is very much expected to dominate the box office this weekend in its debut.
The return of Middle-earth to the big screen has prompted online retailer Amazon.com to take advantage of the hype and offer a deal on Jackson’s first foray into Tolkien’s world. As of today, Amazon is selling The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Extended Edition on Blu-ray for only $39.99, matching their lowest price offered back during the Black Friday time frame. That breaks down to just over $13 per film, and with free shipping to boot.
Amazon is not running this sale price as a Deal of the Day so there’s no way to tell how long it will last. Since the price normally runs up around $60 for the set, I’d grab it now if The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has you thinking of filling in that hole in your Blu-ray collection.
