On Friday, news broke that New Line Home Entertainment would release The Golden Compass on April 29 in a lavish two-disc Blu-ray Disc set. Details were sketchy then as the information was pulled from an advertisement, but now we’ve got the full scoop with disc specs, special features, high-res cover art, and pre-order information with discounted pricing.
New Line will present The Golden Compass on Blu-ray in widescreen 2.35:1 1080p video and 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. While still early in their high-def support, New Line has yet to release a title with anything less than 7.1 channels of lossless audio.
Special features exclusive to Blu-ray will include an enhanced visual commentary and interactive menus. The remaining special features will appear on both the two-disc Blu-ray and DVD sets.
