Christopher Nolan and his cast and crew of The Dark Knight Rises are now in Pittsburgh preparing to shoot about three weeks worth of footage for the upcoming superhero sequel. The first day of filming in the city is today, July 29.
To help welcome the big-budget flick, Pittsburgh used lasers to shine a giant Batman symbol on The Highmark Hotel. Nolan and Christian Bale, in return, discussed the film at a press conference and confirmed reports that part of the shoot would require turning a portion of downtown Pittsburgh into a snow-covered Gotham.
Confirmed locations for the Pittsburgh The Dark Knight Rises shoot include Heinz Field and Carnegie Mellon University. Today’s action involves several street closures in downtown.
Expect numerous photographs from The Dark Knight Rises filming to make their way online over the coming weeks as on-location production in Pittsburgh gets underway.
