The Dark Knight Rises and its hero Batman may have been relegated to discussions about box office battles with The Avengers of late. It’s time to own the spotlight will be here before long. As that time draws closer, we’ll get more little sneak peeks inside Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film.
The latest from The Dark Knight Rises comes from Total Film magazine who ran a cover story on the film. With the story comes three new images, one of which has come online and offers the best look yet at villain Bane (Tom Hardy) and his creepy mask.
In the Total Film article, Bane talks about how he gained 30lbs for the role in a short period of time, upping his weight from a meager 160lbs to 190lbs. He also talks about how the mask wasn’t uncomfortable to wear at all despite how it may appear clasped to his head. Once he figured the drool situation out he was good to go.
Christopher Nolan then chimes in on the challenge of delivering not only a third Batman film that must deliver something audiences haven’t seen before, but also exceed lofty fan expectations. He feels a “tremendous challenge and responsibility to finish our story,” once again underscoring the finality of The Dark Knight Rises in his version of Batman’s legacy.
The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Joseph-Gordon Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. It opens in theaters and IMAX everywhere on July 20.
