Exactly one week ago Warner Home Video predicted week one The Dark Knight Blu-ray Disc sales would reach one million units in the United States after day one sales set a record with 600,000 copies sold. It turns out they were right on the money.
This morning Warner is reporting The Dark Knight Blu-ray Disc has already shattered previous Blu-ray sales records and predicts again that strong sales will continue through the holidays.
The big number Warner is ecstatic about is 1.7 million copies of The Dark Knight Blu-ray have been sold worldwide in the first week, almost 13 percent of the total 13.5 million combined Blu-ray and DVD sales for the title thus far.
Domestically, The Dark Knight has indeed surpassed 1 million in Blu-ray Disc sales though a firm number is not available at this time. By passing 1 million, The Dark Knight is now the all-time best-selling Blu-ray Disc.
This news comes just one day before director Christopher Nolan will conduct a BD-Live chat which 100,000 The Dark Knight Blu-ray Disc owners can participate in.
