Nintendo has updated the official website for Super Mario 3D Land on 3DS. In doing so, they have revealed that one of the game’s levels is inspired by a Nintendo classic.
By searching through the new site, I found a short video for a Super Mario 3D Land level inspired by The Legend of Zelda. This level is played from a top-down perspective. It’s still got Mario-themed obstacles, enemies and coins to collect, of course, but the cue taken from Zelda is unmistakable.

I highly recommend any of you interested in Super Mario 3D Land to poke around the new website after checking out the Zelda level video. It breaks down the game’s story and characters, power-up items, some of the levels, and Mario’s gameplay moves.
