Summit Entertainment’s summer experiment with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has turned out to be a one and done deal as the studio has announced the release date for the final Twilight installment as November 16, 2012. The release date for Part 1 is a year earlier on November 11, 2011.
For Summit, the move ensures the Twilight phenemonon will drag on for another 3 years by the time the entire saga is available on Blu-ray Disc and DVD. It also ensures avoiding the big summer tentpoles in 2012 that include Marvel’s The Avengers and Warner’s Batman 3.
For Comic-Con attendees, the November 2012 release means that Twilight fans could swarm the convention for another two years as Summit is sure to want to debut new footage at the Con and put the cast on display. Unless Summit decides to use a Twilight-specific show for the big unveil.
