A Starz Home Entertainment sales flier appearing on DavisDVD.com has confirmed the initial batch of planned Starz (Anchor Bay) Blu-ray Disc titles, and offers release dates as well.
Starz will kick off their Blu-ray era with a bang on October 2 with the release of heavy hitters ‘Halloween,’ George A. Romero’s ‘Day of the Dead’ and ‘Dawn of the Dead,’ and Sam Raimi’s ‘Evil Dead II.’
On October 16, the first two of four ‘Master of Horror’ volumes from the first season of the Showtime series will hit stores. Each volume will contain 3 episodes on a single-disc.
The next title, ‘Beowulf & Grendel’ starring Gerard Butler, will arrive the following month on November 6.
A week later, the third ‘Master of Horror’ volume will be released. The fourth and final volume from season one will bow on December 11.
Although firm disc specs have yet to be announced, speculation around the Internet points towards obvious 1080p transfers and no less than PCM 5.1 lossless audio on all discs. The SRP’s are set to be listed at $29.97, which should put final retail pricing around the $20 mark.
