Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 5 Finale Trailer Ties Into Star Wars 1313

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 5 Finale Trailer Ties Into Star Wars 1313The first trailer for the four-part Star Wars The Clone Wars: Season 5 has arrived and it paints an ominous future for the Jedi order, and one young Jedi in particular, as well as ties into an upcoming video game.

The single biggest lingering question since the series premiere of The Clone Wars has been the fate of Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan, Ashoka Tano. She has grown powerful over the past five years, yet we know that Anakin has no Padawan at the time of Revenge of the Sith, the events of which The Clone Wars series are building up to.

We have seen Ashoka turn to the dark side against her will, become injured, and save her master’s life. As this new teaser trailer shows, she may become an enemy of the Jedi who themselves are stuck between a rock and a hard place as the Chancellor begins to sway public opinion against them and their place in the war.

We are reaching a point in The Clone Wars where Ashoka’s death would begin a march toward the series finale. When that series finale will come is anyone’s best guess. With Disney taking over Lucasfilm, they could choose to extend The Clone Wars to overlap with the upcoming new live-action films. There’s a tease about Ashoka’s potential fate in this trailer that hasn’t been seen before. The set up is certainly in place, and the trailer looks good enough to be a movie unto itself.

Keen observers might recognize a video game tie-in at play in this trailer. There are multiple shots of Ashoka falling town a large circular hole toward the underworld of Coruscant that looks strikingly like the scene demoed from the upcoming LucasArts game Star Wars 1313 last summer at E3. Take a look at the comparisons below.
