Next week’s release of Star Trek: The Original Series: Season One on Blu-ray kicks off a slew of new Star Trek home video releases leading up to the May 8 release of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie.
To help spur interest in Star Trek, Amazon has dramatically discounted Star Trek Season One on Blu-ray days before its release. With a retail price set by CBS Home Entertainment at $129.99, Amazon is selling the 7-disc set for $64.99 or less than $10 per disc. Odds are it will not be that low when debuting in Best Buy, Target, Walmart and other stores this upcoming Tuesday.
The price drop has shot Star Trek Season One on Blu-ray right into the number one spot on Amazon’s hourly bestsellers list for Blu-ray Disc titles. Clearly Blu-ray owners love their classic Star Trek, especially when the price is right.
