When Paramount set a September 10 release date for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD, they didn’t pass along any cover art with the announcement. Cover art had been readily available at online retailers since the film debuted in cinemas, but I had always assumed that cover art was temporary and the real deal would come with the announcement.
With the arrival of Comic-Con, Paramount has finally issued the real deal Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray covers. As expected they do indeed differ from what retailers were given, and the Blu-ray 3D one in particular is quite stunning to behold in its depiction of a smoking Enterprise headed toward San Francisco.
