Sony Playstation 3 coming this November

The rumors flying around the past week have panned out to be true: Sony has formally announced Playstation 3 has been delayed until November for a simultaneous launch in Japan, Europe and North America. Ken Kutaragi, the head Sony’s video games division, made the announcement today in a brief news conference stating the reason for the delay is to ensure PS3 has all the required current technology available for launch. Although not directly confirmed it is the industry concensus a finalized copy protection scheme for Blu-Ray or BD is a big culprit in the delay.

The simultaneous launch will put a strain on supply even more so than Xbox 360’s debacle due largely in part to Sony’s huge fanbase in Japan. Our recommendation is to get on the phone with your local Electronics Boutique or Game Crazy and inquire about pre-orders now. You’ll want to be up near the front of the line when pre-orders eventually begin.
