Sony delays Blu-ray titles

Every since Samsung announced its first Blu-ray Disc player was delayed from May till mid to late June, Sony has denied any interest in moving their initial May 23 launch titles back to coincide with hardware availability. Now they’ve completed a 180-degree turn and have pushed back several of their first wave titles to more marketable release dates.

“50 First Dates,” “The Fifth Element,” “Hitch,” “House of Flying Daggers,” “A Knight’s Tale,” “Resident Evil: Apocalypse,” “The Last Waltz” and “xXx” have slid from May 23 to June 20. “Kung Fu Hustle,” “Legends of the Fall,” “Robocop,” “Species,” “Stealth,” “S.W.A.T.” and “The Terminator” have fallen 2 weeks from June 13 to June 27. As it stands, “Underworld: Evolution” will be the first lone Blu-ray disc release on June 6 day-and-date with the standard unrated DVD version.
