Early this morning, the latest James Bond 007 film Skyfall starring Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem earned Academy Award nominations in five technical areas: Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Original Song (Adele), Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing. To coincide with the nominations, we have confirmed the release date for Skyfall from director Sam Mendes on Blu-ray and DVD to be February 12, a little over one month from now.
Now that Skyfall has earned its five nominations, I suspect Fox and MGM will make the official release date announcement before the end of today or at least by the end of tomorrow. What we can tell you now is that the Skyfall Blu-ray and DVD will come packed with a nice suite of bonus features. Here is a partial confirmed list:
- Over a dozen all-new revealing featurettes about the Bond women, car, villains
- Commentary by Director Sam Mendes
- Commentary by Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson and Production Designer Dennis Gassner
- Skyfall Premiere
