The second full-length trailer for Jonathan Mostow’s Surrogates has arrived and is sure to tickle your action bone with all sorts of crazy stunts and visual effects.
For Surrogates to succeed, it will have to overcome narrative similarities to The Island and I, Robot as well as visual similarities to They Live. Having a script adapted by the writers of Terminator Salvation and Catwoman isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement for greatness. Then again, those films did not star Bruce Willis.
People are living their lives remotely from the safety of their own homes via robotic surrogates — sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of themselves. It’s an ideal world where crime, pain, fear and consequences don’t exist. When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI agent Greer (Willis) discovers a vast conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his own surrogate, risking his life to unravel the mystery.
Along with Willis, Surrogates stars Radha Mitchell, Rosamund Pike, Ving Rhames and James Cromwell.
