The new full-length Terminator Salvation trailer slammed into the web this evening and is already garnering a lot of praise. Does it deserve it? Yes, yes it does.
The new trailer expands upon the action sequences hinted at in previous trailers including a giant Harvester collecting humans and motorcycle Terminators chasing Resistance fighters that now appears to come to a conclusion on a bridge. I can live without the rock score but the visuals of a post-apocalyptic wasteland fit right in with the Terminator mythos.
The big reveal in the trailer’ second half is Marcus Wright being outed as a Terminator. Warner and director McG have hinted at this before but now the floodgates have opened up — along with Marcus’ chest — to reveal his true identity. The problem is he doesn’t know it until he sees the evidence for himself. And despite the reveal, he still sees himself as a Resistance fighter.
The revelation begs the question: what secrets remain? If Marcus being a Terminator is not the big twist than there’s certainly something else lurking… or “someone” else. Perhaps the “brains” behind Skynet? I can’t wait to find out.
