With Martin Sheen essentially locked in to play Uncle Ben in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot in 3D, Columbia Pictures’ and the young director have set their sights on finding Ben’s better half.
Deadline is reporting that Brothers and Sisters’ mama Sally Field is in early talks to play Aunt May, mother of Peter Parker and eventual widow of Ben. With shooting set to begin in December, Webb and the studio will want to start wrapping up their cast so they can move smoothly into production so expect this decision to play out quickly.
If hired, Field would bring an impeccable pedigree to the franchise matched only by Sheen’s. Both have appeared in countless television shows and films dating back to the 1960’s.
