The main cast for Robert Rodriguez’s Machete has been revealed and yes, Lindsay Lohan is on the list.
Joining Lohan per a report at Variety are the eclectic cast of Danny Trejo as the title character, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson and Jeff Fahey.
Machete first appeared as a faux trailer in 2007’s Grindhouse and is being ported to the big screen with Rodriguez co-directing with protege Ethan Maniquis. It follows a Mexican immigrant nicknamed Machete who is hired to eliminate a US senator only to be double-crossed and left for dead. Thirsty for revenge, Machete kidnaps the senator’s family and goes on a massive killing spree targeting anyone who gets in his way.
Lohan had Tweeted her possible involvement in the film earlier this week prior to Variety’s report. The first rumblings of Lohan actually came at Comic-Con when Rodriguez mentioned he had written a perfect role for Lohan, if she wanted it. Apparently the struggling actress more known for her tabloid exploits than acting did.
Given Lohan’s age and ethnicity she will likely play a member of the senator’s family. Sside from Trejo as Machete, no role has been confirmed.
