Fox and Amazon.com are hoping Rise of the Planet of the Apes is still fresh on your mind a few weeks removed from its theatrical premiere. The reason is they want you to lock in a reservation for the upcoming home video release.
Amazon is currently taking pre-orders for Rise of the Planet of the Apes on Blu-ray and DVD with an unspecified release date. Given the early August theatrical release, I’d expect the home video versions to arrive in stores between mid-November to mid-December.
I would have expected Fox to announce a Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel prior to the Blu-ray and DVD going up for pre-order. As our box office expert Shawn Fitzgerald points out, they may be waiting until the film surpasses $300 million in global ticket sales. It should pull off that feat within the next week or two.
Fox’s official announcement for Rise of the Planet of the Apes on Blu-ray and DVD won’t be available for several more weeks. I’ll share it as soon as I have it.
