Fox Home Entertainment has announced that the animated hit Rio is swooping onto Blu-ray and DVD with an August 2 release date.
Rio, which is just now wrapping up its theatrical run, has amassed around $140 million at the domestic box office. It stars The Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg as Blu the Macaw, a bird living thousands of miles away from his home in Brazil that gets a chance to return when his owner realizes he’s the only male left of his kind.
Fox’s press release for Rio on home video makes no mention of a Blu-ray 3D version. The Blu-ray version will include the DVD, a digital copy and the following extensive list of bonus features including all-new levels for Angry Birds Rio:
