The Blue Sky animated sequel Rio 2 is on the last legs of its cinematic box office run. Next up for Blu, Jewel and the Rio crew is a trip to home video, and online retailer Amazon.com is now taking early pre-orders for the Rio 2 Blu-ray 3D combo pack.
Rio 2, starring the voice talent of Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Jamie Foxx, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Mann and Jemaine Clement, made its cinematic debut via Fox on April 11, 2014 and earned nearly $40 million during its opening weekend. To date the sequel has earned $115.1 million domestically at the box office and just short of $425 million worldwide, not too far off from the $484 million worldwide total that the original film earned.
Amazon is pre-selling the Rio 2 Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD combo pack for $34.99, which works out to 30% off the $49.99 list price. The Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD combo is priced at $27.99 or 30% off its $39.99 list price.
