Per a new listing over at HDAddicts.com that we’ve subsequently confirmed, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the Sony Pictures Classics flick Redbelt August 26 on Blu-ray Disc.
Redbelt explores a philosophical approach to mixed martial arts / Jiu-Jitsu with a diverse international cast featuring real fighters such as Randy Couture, Enson Inoue and Ray Mancini. It’s written and directed by playwright David Mamet who has had his creative hands in Ronin, The Unit television show and Hannibal, amongst many others.
Sony has yet to officially announce Redbelt but will likely do so any day. Until then, we have no technical specs or supplemental features to pass along. The standard rule of thumb for Sony applies: expect a 1080p transfer and Dolby TrueHD audio.
Redbelt on Blu-ray carries an SRP of $38.96. Check back regularly for the official announcement and high resolution cover art.
