The November 20 theatrical release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon coupled with the probable fall release of Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker on Blu-ray and DVD has provided Lionsgate Home Entertainment a perfect opportunity to bring Bigelow’s 80s vampire flick Near Dark to Blu-ray on November 10.
Joining Near Dark in making a Blu-ray debut the same date is the Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Belushi thriller Red Heat. I am not sure what the marketing tie-in for Red Heat is but regardless, it is on the way.
Both films on Blu-ray will be presented in their original 1.85:1 aspect ratios at 1080p resolution with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.
Near Dark will be a bare bones release while Red Heat will include three featurettes; a making-of TV special; the original theatrical trailer; and several TV spots.
Amazon has not begun taking pre-orders for either title but I have a first look at the final Blu-ray cover art below.
