Rambo Sequels Headed to Blu-ray?

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to surmise the best marketing strategy for ensuring maximum Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rambo III sales on Blu-ray is to release them day-and-date with the home video debut of Rambo (Part IV). What we didn’t expect was to catch wind of this *potential* revelation while Rambo is still in theaters.

According to a blog entry over at TVGuide.com, both old school Rambo sequels are destined for Blu-ray Disc on May 27. This could also be the first hint at a release date for Rambo (IV) following the logical day-and-date train of thought.

The bloggers source, you wonder? Inside access to Lionsgate’s upcoming release schedule. Yikes, David. I hope you don’t get busted for spilling the beans early. I wouldn’t dare mention the inevitable release date for Cloverfield on HD DVD… see, I’ve said too much already.

Of course, the Rambo sequels release date and potential to see these titles at all remains rumor and speculation until Lionsgate makes an official announcement. Pegged for late May, we don’t expect to see that for another month, at least.

Once (if) the announcement is made, we’ll be able to share disc specs, high resolution cover art, pre-order information, i.e. the works. Until then, cross your fingers David had a green light to post this news and isn’t currently fielding enraged Lionsgate publicity phone calls.
