Variety.com is reporting Sylvester Stallone will be honored between September 25 and October 5 at the Zurich Film Festival with a lifetime achievement award.
Stallone’s body of work will be screened at the event including all the Rocky and Rambo films in addition to Cop Land. More importantly, Sly himself will debut a never-before-seen director’s cut of Rambo rumored to be more violent than the theatrical cut.
Let the speculation begin. Lionsgate Home Entertainment, who owns the home video distribution rights to all four Rambo films, is notorious for double dipping titles. Even though we just got a rock solid Rambo Blu-ray release in May, this new cut may warrant another release as early as next year.
Whatever happens, we’ll keep our eyes on developments regarding the new Rambo director’s cut migrating to Blu-ray and pass along any updates if/when they become available.
