More beer, boobs and blood could be exploding in your face next summer if Dimension’s plans to sequel Piranha 3D come through.
Per Deadline, the studio has hired John Gulager (Feast and its two sequels) to direct a script that will be written by Saw 3D scribes Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. They even have an appropriately schlocky name to work off already: Piranha DD.
Dimension hopes to put Piranha DD into theaters next summer which means Melton and Dunstan will need to turn around their script ideally by Thanksgiving or by Christmas by the latest. It shouldn’t be too difficult considering the subject matter and dialogue – or lack thereof – required.
Alexandre Aja’s Piranha 3D will be swimming onto home video later this year.
