Packaging Trade-In Program for Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series on Blu-ray

Our friends over at TVShowsOnDVD.com have uncovered a trade-in program Universal will be putting into place for “registered” owners of the existing Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series Blu-ray Disc set (and DVD) who want to upgrade their packaging to what will become available when the set is reissued on April 6.

If you haven’t caught up on the latest Battlestar Blu-ray news, we reported back on January 28 that Universal is releasing Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series on Blu-ray with the added bonus of The Plan telefilm and new outer packaging created to house individually packaged versions of each season. This new set will not however include the “Face of the Enemy” webisodes, but those remain readily available to view online.

The way the trade-in program works is you have to not only own the original Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series Blu-ray set released last July, but you must have registered it with Universal via the BD-Live access on disc one.

The caveat to upgrading to “new packaging is comprised of conventional cases regularly used to store DVD or Blu-ray discs” (Universal’s words) is that you must “remove the top and triangular flap of the Season One case included in your complete series set and send it to us.” While you get to keep the nifty Cylon, your original case will not remain 100% intact.

Universal says it will take 4-6 weeks to deliver the new packaging. The long end of that comes before the new set is released in stores so if you hop on this offer now, be sure to share when your new packaging is received.
