Original Footloose to Cut Loose on Blu-ray in September

With the release of the Footloose remake starring Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough and Dennis Quaid on October 14, the door swung wide open for the original to re-emerge and debut on Blu-ray.

It came as no surprise yesterday when Paramount announced the 1984 Footloose starring Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer and John Lithgow will debut on Blu-ray and return to DVD in a deluxe edition on September 27. Both sets include 30 minutes of all-new bonus features, while the Blu-ray will benefit from 1080p video and 6.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.

The new bonus features that will appear on Blu-ray and DVD include:

  • From Bomont to the Big Apple: An Interview with Sarah Jessica Parker
  • Remembering Willard
  • Kevin Bacon’s Screen Test
  • Kevin Bacon Costume Montage

Exclusive to Blu-ray:

  • Footloose: A Modern Musical – Part 1
  • Footloose: A Modern Musical – Part 2
  • Footloose: Songs That Tell A Story
  • Theatrical Trailer

And previously released and shared by both new versions:

  • Commentary by Kevin Bacon
  • Commentary by producer Craig Zadan and writer Dean Pitchford
