Last night’s 80th Academy Awards saw The Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men snag four Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor.
The win propelled interest in the film, due out on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on March 11, to staggering heights.
Planet Earth: The Complete Series has been a staple atop Amazon.com’s Blu-ray Disc best sellers list almost the entire time its been available since mid-last year. As of this morning, No Country for Old Men holds the #1 top selling spot for Blu-ray at Amazon, forcing Planet Earth: The Complete Series down to #2.
We suspect No Country for Old Men will hold the top spot for a few days at least as a new “intrigued” audience seeks it out.
Amazon’s pre-order discount doesn’t hurt, either. The Blu-ray version is currently a 32% off list price reduction.
