New The Avengers High-Res Images Spotlight Nick Fury’s Nasty Scars

New The Avengers High-Res Images Spotlight Nick Fury's Nasty ScarsMarvel was in a sharing mood today and has published five new high-res stills from this summer’s surefire blockbuster The Avengers.

At least three of these images were released recently in print and appeared online in fuzzy scanned versions. These, however, are big and clear versions that, in one case, shows off some makeup work unlike we’ve seen before.

First up we have Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) handing Captain America (Chris Evans) a folder for the Avengers initiative. This scene likely follows the one from the trailer where Cap punches a punching bag right off its chain. He’s about to be recruited onto the team.

Next is Fury standing in the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier’s interior, most likely about to address his Avengers team situated around the table in front of him.

Batting third is a quiet moment between a ripped Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and a deadly Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

Up next are Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) staring at something off camera. I’m guessing they’re confronting Loki, or watching him in captivity on the helicarrier.

I saved the best for last, a closeup look at Fury’s eyepatch and the heavy scarring around it. That’s a lot of makeup work around Samuel L. Jackson’s face. It makes we wonder if the eyepatch will be ripped off during the heat of battle at some point in the film. Loki and his mysterious army would certainly be capable of pulling that stunt off, whether intentionally or not.
