New Pacific Rim Armor Images from Still and Comic-Con PropsA couple new peeks at Guillermo del Toro’s gargantuan monsters vs robots (in the film known as Jaegers vs. Kaiju) flick Pacific Rim have arrived as Comic-Con 2012 prepares to get underway in San Diego.

The first image comes from a Comic-Con preview and features stars Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi preparing to pilot a skyscraper-tall robot in order to repel the attacks of similarly sized monsters. The frame looks like it came a few moments or after the previously released photo of the pair donning their pilot outfits so there’s no big reveal here. The monsters will have to wait.

An image snapped from the Comic-Con floor setup today shows the same suits worn by Hunnam and Kikuchi on display at the convention. The difference here is that we get to see their helmets which are quite different from one another.

In the film, the pilots will connect with their robots on a cerebral level and ride them into battle under the water, on land, and way up in the atmosphere. Guillermo del Toro promises that the battles will resemble “a tornado clashing with a hurricane” and that each of the monsters will have their own individual personalities and abilities. How many monsters will appear is still unknown.

We’ll know more about Pacific Rim after its Comic-Con panel this upcoming Saturday.
