NBC Bringing Back Community in Mid-March, Shelving Parks and Recreation

NBC Bringing Back Community in Mid-March, Shelving Parks and RecreationNBC is bringing back Dan Harmon’s Community to its Thursday night lineup, but is sacrificing Parks and Recreation in order to do so. In addition, new NBC spring shows including Betty White’s Off Their Rockers now have premiere dates.

Community will return to its familiar 8pm Thursday evening timeslot on March 15 as first tweeted by Harmon yesterday. That slot is currently occupied by 30 Rock which will slide back a half-hour to 8:30pm.

Parks and Recreation, currently sitting in the 8:30pm timeslot, will go on hiatus for a few weeks. It will return on April 19 in the 9:30pm timeslot currently held by Up All Night. That show needs to finish its 24-episode run before Parks and Recreation can slide into what can only seem like a timeslot demotion.

Betty White’s Off Their Rockers will premiere on Wednesday, April 4 at 8pm. It will be followed by another new show, Best Friends Forever, at 8:30pm.

The final new show, Bent with Amanda Peet and David Walton, premieres Wednesday, March 21 at 9pm. During its first two weeks two consecutive episodes will run during the full 9-10pm block. Beginning April 4, Bent will shift to its normal half-hour block.

The big news is obviously the return of Community, a show that continually lives on the bubble, and the demotion of Parks and Recreation which could spell trouble for the show’s future next season.
